When I was looking to replace a Thomas bag that had been peed on by our dog, I scoured Amazon looking for the larger size bag that seems to be very hard to find. This bag is larger than the "toddler" bags. It's large enough to fit a folder without bending it. The outside pocket, however, is not big enough to hold a folder without bending it. I wanted something he could use for at least 2 years before heading into Kindergarten. Almost a year later, and it's stood up to an energetic 4 year old pretty well. The only thing that's not in good shape is the mesh pocket on one of the sides that holds a water bottle. My son knocks the bag around and scrapes the water bottle pocket across the concrete (bottle in pocket) and the pocket is showing larger holes. This happened with the Thomas bag, to the point where it would no longer hold a bottle, so this was no surprise to me. Use the other pocket with flap on it, or put the bottle inside a lunchbox. The other thing you have to be careful about is the straps. If the straps aren't being used, be sure to store them in the pocket on the back. If not, the excess strap will get caught under the wheels and tear. There is also a flap of fabric and elastic that can be placed down over the wheels when using it as a backpack. Incidentally, the bag holds my son's inhaler with spacer, a change of clothes, folder and lunchbox, plus whatever he brings home. We also use it for travel to carry a dvd player, clothes and snacks. He absolutely LOVES it!
